Commerce Department Effort to Recruit Women in Construction

Secretary Raimondo says CHIPS Act goals will not be achieved without them.

The Department of Commerce released its framework for encouraging women to become construction workers, saying that additional workers are necessary to achieve the goals of the CHIPS Act.

“It is a simple question of math. If we are going to meet the national and economic security imperatives of the CHIPS Program, we are going to have to figure out how to fill the hundreds of thousands of jobs we are creating, and we won’t fill those jobs without growing our construction workforce to include more women,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

This framework is one of the five pillars guiding CHIPS investments and implementation. The department will partner with companies and union training facilities so that adequate support systems for women, such as childcare and anti-harassment procedures, are available.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Raimondo to be prudent as she leads her department in promoting women in construction.
  • For U.S. commerce officials as they seek to fulfill the provisions of the CHIPS and Science Act.
